美國藥廠輝瑞（Pfizer）正研發治療COVID-19新口服藥物，是一種蛋白酶抑制劑，適用於感染初期，或可減低患者需入院和深切治療部的機會，目前有60名自願者參與臨床測試，如研發成功新藥有望最快今年底推出。惟專家指本港曾使用同屬蛋白酶抑制劑的藥物，其副作用較多，需待更多臨床研究才能確認新藥效用。
